As part of our Action Plan, the year 4 s focused on the life of St. Phippine Dushescne.  The children researched about her life and reflected upon on how they can be more like her.  They presented their research and reflections on charts which were then displayed on our boards in the corridor for all to admire.  St. Philippine is indeed an inspiration for all.  She was a woman of courage,  prayer and action.

I PROMISE CARD – DINJA WAHDA (YEAR 4 CLASSES)

Students of the Sacred Heart Junior School will be participating in various ‘Dinja Waħda’ Activities this year. Year 4 students have started with their first activity last week – the ‘I PROMISE CARD’.
Students were shown videos and given a thorough explanation on the beauty and speciality of chameleons and why we should always let them free. It is illegal to capture them, keep them as pets and even moreso, kill them.
Each student made a promise to protect this special species and their cards were hung beautifully on our new NATURE BOARD!!!

The Year 5 students of the Junior School remind us of the important journey St Philippine Duchesne made 200 years ago to reach America. Her journey was long and difficult however her determination and qualities of courage and love of prayer teach us so much!

In order to appreciate the many wonderful qualities of St Philippine Duchesne, the Junior School shall be working on a different quality every month.

Last month the students worked on being kind and caring, just as St Philippine was towards those around her. During Mass, one student per class was awarded a ‘St Philippine Duchesne Certificate’ for being extra kind and caring.

On Wednesday 18th October the students of the Junior School united with many other students in Malta and Gozo to say the rosary.

Many students brought flowers to school to be placed in front of the statue of Mary and every year level enjoyed some peaceful prayer time in St Paul’s Hall. Teachers used power points, music and reflections to help our students understand the importance and value of prayer through the rosary.

The Junior School has celebrated Summer Fun by inviting students to share photos, write ups or pictures about their fun summer activities. These were all displayed on the Community Notice Board.

The Goal of Community is a living goal in the school and therefore the board will change on a monthly basis. Each month we will display qualities of character that St Philippine Duchesne had. Qualities that can inspire us all on an individual basis and as community, by helping us to grow together.
